Satsang means "good company".
Mandali means "a group".
So Satsang Mandali is literally a group of people seeking good or wholesome company.
Subang Jaya is a relatively new but rapidly developing township on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. A sizeable community of Hindu families lives in this township.
The Subang Jaya Satsang Mandali came into being as a spontaneous response to the urge for spiritual rejuvenation among some members of the community. Sensing a void in the religious fabric of especially the younger generation, there were calls for some form of group activity to arouse enthusiasm for the religion in particular and for moral values in general. The first get-together of the Mandali was held in January 1999 and the response was fantastic. Since then there has been no looking back and the monthly sessions have become a part and parcel of the community.
