WHY JOIN THE MALAYSIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION?

    The Malaysian Medical Association is the largest association that represents all doctors in our country. It was formed in 1959 and currently, we have 13,000 members. The aim of joining is to stay united under one roof and be represented. It is your only voice.....a doctor's voice!!

    Our Objectives are :

    (a) To promote and maintain the honour and interest of the profession of medicine in all its branches and in every one of its segments and help to sustain the professional standards of medical ethics.

    (b) To serve as the vehicle of the integrated voice of the whole profession and all or each of its segments both in relation to its own special problems and in relation to educating and directing public opinion on the problems of public health as affecting the community at large.

    (c) To participate in the conduct of medical education, as may be appropriate.

    (d) To promote social, cultural and charitable activities in building a united Malaysian nation.

  1. CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME)

    2. CME points in future will be important in renewal of the Annual Practicing Certificate. Non-members have to pay an annual fee of RM50.00 for registration of CME points with the Malaysian Medical Council. For MMA members, this is done for you absolutely free.

  2. PUBLICATIONS

    3. The monthly issue of BERITA MMA keeps you abreast of what's happening to the medical profession. The MEDICAL JOURNAL OF MALAYSIA, the main journal of the association whose articles are indexed in the INDEX MEDICUS will be sent to you (upon request). The SINGAPORE MEDICAL JOURNAL can be subscribed directly from the Singapore Medical Association.

  3. SCHOMOS (SECTION CONCERNING HOUSE OFFICERS, MEDICAL OFFICERS AND SPECIALISTS)

    4. The Government doctors section of the MMA. Problems can be channeled through your representatives at the State and National levels. The ExCo meets officials from the Ministry of Health, Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA), etc. on a regular basis. MMA is your voice!! YOUR CALL ALLOWANCES NOW IS BECAUSE OF THIS!!!

  4. PPSMMA (PRIVATE PRACTITIONERS SECTION OF MMA)

    5. The private doctors section of the MMA. Looks after the welfare of doctors in the private sector. Advise on getting started in private practice and a voice for the important policy issues affecting private sector doctors.

  5. DIRECT ACCESS CREDIT CARDS

    6. Visa and Master cards (basic and gold) are available with no joining or annual fee - a saving up to RM200.00 annually. Supplementary cards are also available on similar terms.

  6. MMA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

    7. You get unrecorded leave to attend. Meet old and new friends from other States. Lots of fun and laughter, activities, banquets and discussions on important issues affecting our community and profession. Spouses and kids are included.

  8. WORKSHOPS ON CONTEMPORARY ISSUES

    9. You will be invited to attend workshops on current contemporary issues such as Health Financing, Restructuring of Public Health Sector, Liberalization of Professional Health Services with respect to Globalization, etc.

  9. INSURANCE SERVICES

    HOW TO JOIN?
    Just complete the membership form and submit it with a copy of your Malaysian Medical Council Registration Certificate.

    HOW MUCH TO PAY?
    1. Student Members - RM20.00 per year
    2. House Doctors - RM150.00 per year
    3. Doctors in first 10 years after Housemanship - RM150.00
    4. Joint Ordinary Member - RM225.00 (from 1-1-05)
    5. Joint Ordinary Member (with spouse) - RM112.50 (from 1-1-05). Total would be RM337.50
    6. Associate Member - RM225.00 (from 1-1-05) and RM250.00 (from 1-1-07)
    7. Overseas Ordinary Member - RM500.00 per year
    8. Ordinary Members who enrolled between 1st July to 31st December - RM112.50 (from 1-1-05) and RM125.00 (from 1-1-07)
    9. * Life Membership - RM4,000.00 one-off payment
    10. * Joint Life Membership (with spouse) - RM2,000.00 one-off payment. *Total would be RM6,000.00
      *(For Life Membership, please ensure that cheque is payable to "MMA Special Savings Life Investment Fund")


    WHEN TO JOIN?
    Membership is effective from 1st January annually, so it is advisable to join early in the year.
